Carbon dioxide emissions rose in 2010, suggest EU ETS figures

Carbon dioxide emissions rose in 2010 after two years of substantial decline, according to EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETSⁱ) figures released this month. Although the submissions have not yet been verified, data submitted by 31 March indicated a 3.5% rise in like-for-like emissions since 2009. The largest increase in emissions was in the relatively small coke sector, while the only industry to report a fall was refining.
