ITRE adopts EU Biodiversity Strategy opinion

On 6 February 2012, the Industry, Trade and Research Committee (ITRE) of the European Parliament adopted rapporteur Romana Jordan Cizelj’s (Group of the European People's Party [Christian Democrats], Slovenia) draft opinion on the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy. The opinion calls for the acceleration of the European Commission’s Green Infrastructure Strategy, further development of the Business and Biodiversity Platform, and invites the private sector to present proposals “on how best to preserve and restore biodiversity on a meaningful scale”.
