List of mandatory harmonised classification of dangerous substances updated

Annex I of the Dangerous Substances Directive (DSD - Council Directive 67/548/EEC on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances) has been amended for the 31st time (2009/2/EC). Annex I of the DSD contains the harmonised classification and labelling of chemicals which are legally binding within the EU. Over the years, this list was regularly updated through the so-called Adaptations to Technical Progress (ATP) procedure, the most recent 31th ATP. This is the last update under this procedure. Mandatory classification will now be regulated under REACHⁱ and the CLPⁱ.

Member States must comply with this Directive by 1 June 2009 at the latest.
