CLIMATE CHANGE CCS technology roadmap published On 20 September 2011 the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) launched a new technology roadmap on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Industrial Applications.
ENERGY ECF expresses support for Energy Efficiency Directive On 23 September 2011, the European Construction Forum (ECF) expressed its support for the proposed Directive on Energy Efficiency.
ENVIRONMENT CEMBUREAU responds to Air Quality Legislation consultation CEMBUREAU has responded to the European Commission’s stakeholder’s questionnaires on EU air quality legislation. In its response, the Association highlights that, in relation to industrial emissions, industry’s contribution to the desired air quality can be achieved through efficient implementation of existing EU legislation by Member States and their competent authorities.

HEALTH AND SAFETY Parliament votes on Seveso On 26 September 2011, the European Parliament’s of the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee adopted the draft opinion by Jacky Hénin (Confederal Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left, France) on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances.
RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Commission Roadmap to Resource Efficiency published On 20 September 2011, the European Commission published its ‘Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe’. The Roadmap contains a series medium- (2020) and long-term (2050) resource efficiency objectives as well as the means needed for achieving them, including targets by 2013 and milestones for 2020.
RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Parliament votes on Raw Materials Strategy for Europe On 13 September 2011, the European Parliament, in Plenary, voted on MEP Reinhard Bütikofer’s (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, Germany) own initiative report for an Effective Raw Materials Strategy for Europe.
RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Council conclusions on industrial competitiveness and resource efficiency On 29 September 2011 the Competitiveness Council adopted conclusions in relation to industrial competitiveness in the light of resource efficiency.
RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Commission issues tender for improving resource efficiency On 10 September 2011 the European Commission issued a call for tender with the aim of identifying opportunities for business to improve resource efficiency.
RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Commission technical consultation on end of waste fuels On 8 September 2011, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) launched a written technical consultation of the data collected in the interim report of the study on the suitability of different waste-derived fuels for end-of-waste status.
CONSTRUCTION CEMBUREAU responds to consultation on Sustainable Competitiveness of the construction sector CEMBUREAU has responded to the European Commission’s online stakeholder’s consultation with the aim of preparing a Communication on the Sustainable Competitiveness of the construction sector and its enterprises.
